BIO
Holguín, Cuba. 1984
Yanelis Mora Morales. Born in Holguín, Cuba, lives in Madrid. She trained at the Holguín Elementary School of Music, specializing in Choral Conducting, and later in Dramatic Arts at the National School of Theatre in Havana, Cuba. From 2003 to 2019, she worked as an actress in theatre, radio, and television in Cuba, where she was honored three times with Best Actress awards. In 2017, she began her practice as a visual artist, focusing primarily on a patchwork technique known as Foundation Paper Piecing, through which she creates both small- and large-format textile works. Using complex and fragmented patterns, she dyes, cuts, and sews her own fabrics, considering each piece as a mental space for survival or as a way of finding herself.
